On this day in 1776, Benjamin Franklin leaves for France in order to seek support for the American Revolution. Ben Franklin is such an important figure in history, but he is also a key player in the beer industry as well. His quotes and quips thrive on stickers, buildings, t-shirts, and a plethora of brewiana. Ben would spent hours in the taverns having intellectual debates and discussions over several pints of ale. He is never known to over-indulge and in fact, believed beer to have extensive health benefits if consumed in moderation.
“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
We can assume that Mr. Franklin enjoyed a malty-style ale of deliciousness because lagers actually did not come to America until well after his death.
“In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is Freedom, in water there is bacteria.”
