Inky Beer Factoid: September 21


On this day in 1973, the painting, “Blue Poles”, by Jackson Pollock sold for 2 million dollars.  Mr. Pollock was a great mid-20th century artist and was also known to drink a bit too much which ultimately led to his death in 1956.



Schlitz Brewing Company featured his work in a Life Magazine advertisement featuring a man and woman admiring a painting of a Schlitz beer while a Jackson Pollock painting, “Number 23, 1949”, hangs on an adjacent wall
