On this day, in 1905, Port Townsend Brewing Company was established for a mere (by today’s standards!) $25,000. Port Townsend Brewing was one of the longest running breweries of its time. Their beers were shipped to all of the local saloons as well as areas around the Puget Sound. The brewery closed to pressures from Prohibition in 1916. In 1997, a few of the original recipes were resurrected, including Port Townsend Pale and Brown Porter, as well as the brewery’s namesake and history. Happy Anniversary all over again, Port Townsend Brewing!
