Inky Beer Factoid: September 1

On September 1, 1900, four of the local breweries in La Crosse, Wisconsin, were consolidated into one huge brewery, named the “La Crosse Brewing Company.” The local breweries consolidated were the C & J Michel Brewing Company, the G. Heileman Brewing Company, the Franz Bartl Brewing Company, and the Zeisler and Sons Brewery.

Currently, the Lacrosse Brewing Company does not exist, but, Heileman’s Old Style Lager is still being produced and spectacular craft beer being made by newer brewing companies:

* The interesting side not about PSB, is that Kim went to brewing school (MBAA Malting and Brewing Course) last fall with the owner and head brewer, Joe Katchever ! (He’s a great brewer. If you’re in the area, please stop in, try a few beers, and tell him that we say hello!)
