Beer Factoid: June 26

In light of Nelson Mandela’s current condition, we are sending him good will and hope that he will be relieved of his pain soon.

On this day in 1951, Nelson Mandela & 51 others broke the Apartheid curfew laws in South Africa as part of a newly formed Defiance Campaign and chose to serve prison sentences rather than pay fines.

Did you know that “Nelson Mandela” is Cockney slang for Stella Artois Lagar?  So, if you order a “Nelson” or “Nelson Mandela” in parts of the United Kingdom, you’ll end up sitting across from a Stella!
